In the opening match, #1 Bugs Bunny took out #16 Charlie Brown in straight sets: 6-3, 6-4. Despite some shaky play from Bugs, Charlie Brown's inability to break serve was his undoing. Poor Charlie Brown will look back at the three break points he squandered at love-40 in the second game of the second set.
Meanwhile, the second match was a scintillating display of tennis, as Tasmanian Devil outlasted Scooby-Doo: 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Despite Scooby's stellar return of serve, Taz was only broken once in the whole match. Taz put on a serving clinic, holding at love on four separate occasions. If he serves this way in the quarterfinals, Bugs Bunny will have his hands full.
Stay tuned for updates on the Day 1 evening matches, featuring #5 Smurfette and #12 Dilbert, followed by #4 Woody Woodpecker and #13 Homer Simpson.
