Selecting Alternates

You may also select alternates in case one of your players drops out of the tournament before that player begins his/her first match.  To select alternates, simply list additional players in your original submission.  The player (or players) withdrawing from the tournament will be deleted from your submission, and the player (or players) listed below will move up to occupy their new position(s).  You may select as many alternates as you like.  However, players will not be replaced once they begin play for that tournament.  In other words, once they play the first point of their first match, you are stuck with them (even if they retire or withdraw at some later point in that match or the tournament).

Sample Submission for the women:

Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Simona Halep, Petra Kvitova, Ana Ivanovic

In this example, if Halep withdrew from the tournament before her first match, Kvitova would move up and be given a weight of 2, and Ivanovic would move up and be given a weight of 1.

Note: In the event that you do not send me your picks before the deadline, or if you do not provide me with a sufficient number of alternate selections when one (or more) of your players withdraws, I will select the highest seeded player available on your behalf.
