Midwest Sports Charity Open: Day 2 Results (Afternoon)

We've had plenty of excitement already on Day 2 of the tournament.

In the first match of the afternoon session, Popeye was large and in charge, easily handling Swedish Chef, 6-3, 6-4.  Known for his blistering lefty forehands, Popeye was no match for the slower European, who floated about aimlessly on the dirt and grass.  Popeye broke serve three times with the help of his aggressive topspin forehands, whose shots found the lines all afternoon.

Popeye's quarterfinal opponent will be the #10 seed, Kool-Aid Man, who upset #7 Big Bird in the second afternoon match, 6-4, 7-6(4).  Both known for their dominant serves, it was Kool-Aid Man who served much better today.  Kool-Aid Man was never broken, held at love five times, and won 86% of his points on serve.  The key was the second set tiebreak.  Serving at 3-4, Big Bird dumped a forehand volley into the net.  The one mini-break was all Kool-Aid Man needed to serve out for the match.
